Housing starts in Quebec’s urban centres were trending at 30,687 units in June compared to 31,581 in May according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).

Contractors took out building permits worth $7.3 billion in May, up 4.5% from April. The total value of building permits continued to trend upward on the strength of five consecutive monthly increases.

National home sales rose 3.6% from April to May. Actual (not seasonally adjusted) activity came in 2.6% below levels in May 2012.
